Today I took the boys to see the San Juan Capistrano Mission. After the new year Ethan's class with be studying the California mission era. His teacher is giving everyone an opportunity to earn some extra points in doing a mission presentation. Since I have today off from work I thought it was great time to take him to see a mission! Here are some pics from our day.....
This was California's first governor!!! ... Interesting!
LOL... Let me explain! It just so happens that they have a Lewis and Clark Exhibition at the Mission.. So kids get to dress up and go through the exhibit as if they were one of the 30,000 men that went on the expedition. Ethan was really excited to see this exhibit since he did a big project last year on Lewis and Clark! He actually remembered a lot that he had learned last year, I was impressed!
Chase wanted to hang out with Sacagewea (see her baby next to the teepee?)...LOL
I love this picture!! Isn't it so pretty??
Ethan is the photography of this photo...
The boys were really fascinated by the kneeling benches... It gave me a good opportunity to explain to them how Catholics worship.
The Mission Bells...

I love this shot!
Notice Ethan and Michael with their audio tour devices to their ear? LOL... it looks like they are on cell phones.. haha..
After we visited the mission, we walked down the street to Ruby's Diner for a late lunch..
All in all we had a wonderful day!!
